Daniel O’Brien,
Director & Treasurer
Daniel is the Director of Books Across Borders and the Executive Director of the Independent Publishers Caucus. Previously the Director of Membership & Partnerships at the American Booksellers Association, Daniel has been a member of the “indie” community for over eight years. In 2022, he was named a Publishers Weekly Star Watch honoree. Daniel is also a lecturer at the City University of New York, where he was awarded a 2024-25 Faculty Fellowship from Social Practice CUNY. His poetry and criticism have appeared in the Boston Review, Diagram, Hot Pink Mag, Kenyon Review, Lambda Literary, and other venues.
Michael Reynolds,
Founder & President
Michael is the editor-in-chief of Europa Editions. He has served on the jury for the PEN/Heim Translation Fund, the Gutekunst Prize for Young Translators, and the foreign jury of the Strega Prize. He also serves as a member of the Rutgers University Press Advisory Council and on the Independent Publisher Caucus Steering Committee. He is a regular speaker at the Columbia School of Journalism’s Publishing Course and at publishing and translation conferences in America and internationally. Michael was born in Australia and now lives in New York.
Terrie Akers, Vice President & Secretary
Terrie is the marketing director at Other Press. She joined the company in 2004 as a publishing assistant, and since then has held positions in publicity, social media management, and digital marketing, dabbling in editorial and design along the way. She’s proud and grateful to be a part of the vibrant indie publishing community, and serves on the Steering Committee of the Independent Publishers Caucus. She graduated from New York University with a degree in English literature and creative writing, and holds an MA in international studies from the CUNY Graduate Center.
GELSEY PHANEUF
Gelsey Phaneuf is currently the associate publicist and marketing manager at NorthSouth Books. She is a member of the United States Board of Books for Young People and a contributing writer for World Kid Lit. She holds a B.A. in English from Vassar College and is an alumna of the Columbia Publishing Course. Gelsey lives near Providence, Rhode Island.

Riky Stock has vast experience in the publishing industry, currently serving as Business Development U.S. at Frankfurter Buchmesse. Previously, Riky was the Managing Director at NorthSouth Books and held various leadership roles at German Book Office New York, Inc. and HarperCollins Publishers. With a Master of Arts in International Business Studies and Intercultural Communication from Universität Passau, Riky has a strong background in project management, business development, and event planning within the publishing sector.

Abbie Storch is the Associate Editor of Religion and Literature at Yale University Press where she oversees the Margellos World Republic of Letters, a series of global literature in translation, the Anchor Yale Bible Commentaries and Reference Library, and the Yale Judaica Series. Her acquired titles have been shortlisted for the National Book Award for Translated Literature, the PEN Heaney Prize, the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation, and the Derek Walcott Prize for Poetry; and longlisted for the National Translation Award, the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Literature Prize. These acquisitions include books by Nobel laureates Patrick Modiano, Annie Ernaux, and Elfriede Jelinek, as well as internationally acclaimed writers such as Can Xue, Ludmila Ulitskaya, Serhiy Zhadan, Enrique Vila-Matas, and others.
LORI FEATHERS
Lori Feathers is a writer and podcaster in Dallas, Texas, and a co-owner/founder of Interabang Books where she is the store’s book buyer. She is creator of “The Big Book Project” on Substack, and co-hosts the critically acclaimed books podcast, “Across the Pond.” Lori is founding Chair of the Republic of Consciousness Prize, US and Canada, a prize honoring the work of small publishers, and co-founder of the Inside Literary Prize for incarcerated persons. For six years she served on the elected board of the National Book Critics Circle. Her writing can be found at Literary Hub, Words Without Borders, Los Angeles Review of Books, and Southwest Review.
